Full Dention, Eyes Clear, 22"

Hips - 5:4

Stormy is the son of Clancy and Anu, the product of much planning and research. Happy with the style, heads and fronts on my original Wlkabout stock, I looked to import from the United States a brood bitch which would strengthen the Wlkabout back end. Anu was purchased for this reason and had Jerry-Lee not arrived in Australia her first litter would have been to Clancy. This much awaited litter finally arrived January 1997 on MY BED!

Right from the start Storm stood out, a large pup of a passive nature and striking dark patches, numerous people had him slated as the pick of the litter. He is affectionately known as the John West dog - he was supposed to go to a show home that wanted the litter bred specifically to have pick puppy dog and then chose a toy breed. Storm remained here always available to sale to a show home, but slowly working his way into our hearts. These days his future is assured, Storm will remain part of the Silvanwood breeding program, an outcross from the Bayshores/Carolinas stock and a sweet little guy to boot.

Looking very similar to his father but with his mothers smoochy nature Storm has done exceptionally well in the show ring. Storm has been lightly shown and achieved his Championship, the majority of his points coming from challenges awarded over older titled stock. At the 1999 NSW Australian Shepherd Specialty show Storm was awarded Reserve Challenge Dog.

On the way to his title Storm has collected a Runner Up in Group, a Puppy in Group, 2 Juniors in Group at Champ shows, 2 Runner up in Group, 2 Puppy in Groups, Junior in Group at Open shows and a Best in Comp and a Runner Up in Comp at members competitions. Silvanwood Kennels is very proud of this young dog.

Since completing his title Storm has continued to perform well. Winning Intermediate dog both days at the 1998 Spring Fair weekend over titled and imported stock. 1999 bodes well for Storm having won Runner Up In Group at the Tarago Champ Show (7/2/99) and Runner Up In Group at the West Gippsland Open Show.

Late 1999 has proved a sad time for Storm and Kate with an accident taking Storm from the showring and risking both his life and his leg. During a visit to Shoreham Storm took on a car and lost. His right foreleg was injured severing arteries, veins and nerves. The swelling resulting from this injury has caused the death of the skin on his leg. It is healing with no loss of the legs or toes. We expect extensive scarring and hope that he will eventually be sound enough to compete in the obedience and agility fields.

Storm at 20 months complete with lips tucked up!

Topaz at 20 months

Storm spent August 1998 travelling Queensland and New South Wales schools with his friend Kate Lorkin and Harry the Jack Russell Terrier. The school kids loved the odd couple as you can see above. Harry is actually there underneath all the kids. Somewhere!

Storm and Harry also thoroughly enjoyed the water, mud, dirt and kangaroo legs discovered in Central Queensland.

Having completed his Championship title, Storm will embark on his obedience career. Keep your eyes open for this exciting young dog.

Storm's brothers and sisters are also making their mark in a variety of fields, showing, obedience training, stock work, family companions, household guardians and backyard landscapers. To see these puppies visit the Sthern Litter Picture portrait page.
